Freemasonry is the whole system around : the lodges, the ranks, the ceremonies, the rules, and the way members are supposed to treat one another. When people discuss Freemasonry, they mean that organisation and its habits, not one single meeting.
Though actually, English also uses the word in a looser way. If a newspaper says there is a “freemasonry” among nurses, or among old traders in a market, it does not mean they joined the club. It means a quiet understanding — people in the same world who look after their own without a big speech. That second use is usually written without a capital F, and it can sound a little old or formal.
The organisation itself is normally Freemasonry with a capital F.
組成From freemason + -ry. The ending -ry turns the member into the practice and the body as a whole.
