A freebie is a thing a company puts in your hand without asking you to pay — a tiny bottle, a bag, a sticker, a snack at a stall. Shops do this so you remember them, or as a little extra with something you did buy. Friends and ads use the word; it feels playful and informal. In a careful letter you would more likely say a free gift or a item. It is almost always the thing, not a person and not a big favour. People stretch it a little: a free extra drink can be a freebie too.
