A fraudster is a person who has carried out a fraud: they tricked people, usually to take money. Newspapers like the word; it sounds sharp and a little informal. 'Fraud' is the crime; 'fraudster' is the person. In talk you may also hear 'scammer' or 'con man'. A court is more likely to say 'the defendant' than 'the fraudster'. It names what they did, not a job title they would give themselves.
