A frame-up is a plan to make an innocent person look guilty. Someone plants fake proof, tells a false story, or tricks the police so that another person takes the blame. You hear it in crime news, films, and everyday talk about unfair treatment; it is informal, not courtroom language. The matching verb is to frame someone (or to frame them up). A person who has been treated this way may say they were framed. People also stretch it a little: a nasty office meant to ruin someone can be called a frame-up even when no crime is involved, though the core idea is still a made-up case against the wrong person.
