1. 1

Foyles is a famous on Charing Cross Road in London. For a long time it was the shop people named when they meant “a huge place with almost any book.” It is known for a very wide choice — not one kind of book, but all subjects. and visitors still use the name as a meeting point: “meet me at Foyles” points to that street, not to in general. Though actually, the shop has moved and changed over the years; the old maze of rooms is part of the story people tell, more than the exact rooms you walk into today. It is a proper name, so it takes a capital letter. In writing it stands for that one shop (and the small group that grew from it), not for “a foyle.”
