    Foxhunting is the name of the sport itself: people on horses, dogs in a pack, a fox as the animal being chased. It is the same world as , but this -ing form names the activity as a whole — like “swimming” names the sport, not one swim. You will see it in news and arguments (“foxhunting should be banned”) when people talk about the idea, not one meet. Same history, same split feeling: a proud country tradition to some, cruelty to others. In Britain the law changed in the 2000s; in many other places the sport never looked quite like that English picture.
