    Foliage is the leaves of a plant, especially the whole mass of them together rather than one single leaf. and writers like the word: dense foliage, autumn foliage. You would not usually say a foliage for one leaf — that is a leaf. It can be living and green, or cut branches used to a room. It sounds a bit more “nature book” than leaves. Though actually, shops also sell fake foliage: plastic leaves for display. Uncountable in normal use — thick foliage, not three foliages.
