A flasher is a man who suddenly shows his private parts to people in a public place, most often to women he does not know. It is meant to shock. The word is informal, and old comedies sometimes treat it as a silly joke, but in real life it is a sexual crime and it can people. The verb is flash: “He flashed at someone.” You need the word so you can understand a warning or a news story, not so you can laugh. Though actually, British English also uses flasher for the clicking light on a car that shows you are turning — that is a completely different meaning, and this entry is the person.
