Financing is providing money, especially a large amount, to pay for something — a building, a film, a company, a car, a stretch of public work. As a verb form: the bank is financing the repairs. As a noun: they are looking for financing, bank financing, government financing. It is the money-as-arrangement, often a loan or an investment, not a gift and not the everyday word money. Finance as a subject is the whole field; financing is the act of putting money under something so it can go ahead. People also say self-financing when a project pays for itself. Informal talk might just say paying for; financing sounds like a deal with terms.
