Ferocious describes something extremely fierce, violent, or aggressive — a ferocious animal attacks with great force and looks while doing it. People also use it for things that are simply very intense, even without violence: "a ferocious appetite" means extremely hungry, and "a ferocious storm" means extremely strong. It's a strong, dramatic word, stronger than just "fierce" or "angry."
