1. 1

A feedbag is a bag of food you hang on a horse’s head so the horse can eat from it — usually or other feed. It sits over the nose and mouth, like a cloth bucket on the face, so the animal can walk a little and still eat. People who keep horses use this word; most city students will only meet it in stories or Western films. Though actually, Americans also joke “put on the feedbag” meaning “let’s eat,” as if people were horses. That joke is friendly and a bit old-fashioned, not for a formal meal.
