- 1
Feb. is the written short form of February, the second month of the year. You see it on calendars, forms, letters, and dates (Feb. 14). In American English the little dot is usual; in British English people often write Feb without it. When you speak, you almost always say the full word February — saying “Feb” out loud sounds informal, like you are in a hurry. It is only a writing shortcut, not a different word and not a spoken name for the month in careful English.
