A fall-off is a drop in a level, an amount, or a number — sales, interest, quality, visitors. Newspapers and business people like it: “a sharp fall-off in tourism.” It names the drop itself, not a person hitting the ground. Though actually, in everyday talk people more often say a drop or a fall; fall-off sounds a little like a report. You may also see falloff, one word; the is common in dictionaries. It is not a huge, technical word, but it does sit in writing more than in chat.
fall-off 指某個數量、程度或人數往下掉，像是業績、興趣、品質或遊客人數。新聞和商業人士很愛用這個詞，報紙裡常見的說法是「a sharp fall-off in tourism」，也就是觀光大幅下滑。它指的是下滑這件事本身，不是有人摔下來。
