Expeditious means done quickly and without fuss — fast, but with the sense that it was also done properly and that obstacles were cleared out of the way. It is an adjective, and a formal one. Real people do not say it; institutions do. You find it in contracts, court judgments, official letters and customer-service apologies: 'an expeditious resolution of the matter', 'the expeditious handling of your claim'. There is a small feeling difference worth knowing: 'quick' is about the clock, while 'expeditious' suggests efficient, speed by someone whose job it is to get it done. Because it is so formal, it can also sound defensive — a company that promises 'expeditious action' is often a company that has been slow. Note the spelling: expeditious, not 'expiditious', and the stress falls on the third part, ex-pe-DI-tious.
