Evaporation is when a liquid, like water, slowly turns into a gas (vapor) and disappears into the air - this usually happens because of heat, like water evaporating from a on a hot day, or steam rising from a hot cup of tea. It's an important part of the water cycle in nature - water evaporates from oceans and lakes, forms clouds, and later falls back down as rain.
