    Evangelical describes a part of Christianity - especially Protestant Christianity - that puts a lot of focus on a personal, life-changing decision to follow Jesus, and on telling other people about it. Evangelical churches are usually known for lively worship and strong belief in the Bible. People also stretch this word outside religion: if someone talks about something (a diet, a political idea, a new app) with the same kind of passionate, convince-everyone-else energy, you might say they are 'evangelical' about it. This second use is informal and a little bit joking.
