Eurostar is the fast passenger train that runs between London and cities in France or Belgium through the long tunnel under the sea between England and France. It is a brand name, not a kind of star in the sky. You buy a ticket, go into the station (in London that is St Pancras), and the train carries you under the Channel. People say “take the Eurostar” the way they say “take the plane.” Though actually, later trains also go on to the Netherlands, but the old, core picture is still London–Paris and London–Brussels. It is the famous passenger service. A different company looks after the tunnel itself and runs the trains that carry cars.
