    Essex is a county in southeast England, sitting between the east edge of London and the North Sea. Towns people mention include Chelmsford, , and Southend-on-Sea; many people who work in London live out here and commute. In British English the name is also a social shortcut, not only a map label. From the late twentieth century, “Essex man” and “Essex girl” were media stereotypes — loud, flashy, new money — and later reality TV kept that joke going. Though actually, that is television talking, not a fair picture of a whole county. The place-name itself is older and plainer: the land of the East Saxons.

組成From Old English Ēastseaxan, literally “East Saxons.” It named both the people and their land.
