ESPN is an American television channel that shows sport — live games, news, talk, highlights — and is famous for doing that all day. The letters stand for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, though almost nobody says the long name; people just say ESPN. It began as a US cable station and grew into a huge sports brand, now also on phones and the internet. In Taiwan you will hear the English letters; there is no separate Chinese name people actually use. Though actually it is not a generic word for “sports TV.” If you say “I watched it on ESPN,” you mean that network, not any sports channel.
