Enrolment is the act of officially joining something, like a school, a course, or an insurance plan - putting your name down as a member or student. Schools also use 'enrolment' as a number - 'this year's enrolment is 500 students' means 500 students signed up. This is the British/Commonwealth spelling; Americans usually write 'enrollment' with two l's.
