Endothelial describes the thin layer of cells that lines the inside of your blood vessels and heart. This lining helps control how blood flows and how substances pass between blood and body tissue. You will mostly meet this word in medical or biology contexts, like "endothelial cells" or "endothelial damage" (which doctors link to heart disease).
內皮的(醫學用語,指血管內壁細胞)
組成endo- (inside, within) + thelium (a covering layer of cells, from Greek) + -al (adjective ending)
同家族的字
- epithelialshares "-thelial", both about a lining of cells - "epi-" means on/upon, so epithelial cells line outer or body surfaces while endothelial cells line the inside of vessels
