An encore is an extra song or performance given at the end of a concert or show, after the main performance is finished, because the audience keeps and asking for more. People in the audience often shout 'Encore!' to ask the performer to come back on stage. It's borrowed directly from French, where it simply means 'again' or 'still' — English speakers didn't translate it, just adopted the whole word.
