Elves are small, magical creatures from old European folk tales — traditionally pictured as clever, mischievous, and often helpful, which is why they became Santa's toy-making in modern Christmas stories. In fantasy books and movies like The Lord of the Rings, elves are pictured very differently: tall, beautiful, wise, and extremely long-lived, closer to magical humans than tiny creatures. Both pictures are called 'elves' — the word covers quite different-looking characters depending on the story.
精靈(elf 的複數)
組成elf, with an irregular plural: the f changes to v before -es, the same pattern as leaf → leaves and wolf → wolves.
