1. 1

Edmonton is a city in western Canada. It is the capital of Alberta — the province's government sits there — and it stands on the North River. Though actually, visitors often mix it up with Calgary, Alberta's other big city. Calgary is better known for oil and for a huge summer festival; Edmonton is the one with the capital. The Canadian city took its name from Edmonton in England, once a village, now part of north London. It is a place name, so it always starts with a capital letter. Locals just say Edmonton; they do not need 'City of' in ordinary talk.
