Echinacea is a wild flower of North America, often called a . The are usually purple-pink, sometimes white, and the centre is a spiky brown cone. grow it for the look. Many people also take it as a herb — tea, drops, or capsules — hoping it will help a cold or lift the body’s defences. That health use is popular; whether it really works is something even doctors do not all agree on, so it is fairer to say people use it as a medicine than to say it colds. The scientific name comes from the soft “spines” in the middle of the flower.
