Ebullience is a noun for a kind of happiness that boils over — you can see it. The person is bright, talkative, full of energy, and the feeling spills out. English took the picture from Latin: something bubbling and boiling. That is why we also say someone is bubbling with excitement, though ebullience itself is a more word. You will meet it in writing more than in chat: the ebullience of the crowd, her natural ebullience. It is almost always a compliment. It does not mean a quiet, private joy; it means high spirits that show.

組成From Latin ēbullientem (‘boiling’) + English -ence (‘the state of’). Ēbullientem comes from ēbulliō, ‘to boil,’ built from ē- (‘out’) + bulliō (‘to bubble, to boil’), from bulla (‘bubble’). The pieces paint ‘boiling over.’
