When we call a person easy-going, we mean they do not get angry, worried, or upset over small things. They take life as it comes. A friend who is late, a change of plan, a little mess — an easy-going person usually just shrugs and carries on. You can also call a place or a way of living easy-going: an easy-going school is not strict; an easy-going weekend has no tight . Though actually, easy-going is not the same as lazy. A lazy person does not want to work; an easy-going person may work hard — they just do not let worry or anger run the day. The word is friendly and everyday, not a formal one. You will also see it written as one word, easygoing, with the same meaning. People sometimes stretch it to mean “too soft” or “not careful enough,” so the speaker’s tone matters.
