E-banking is a bank service that lets you move money from one account to another, pay bills, look at your balance, and do other everyday bank jobs through the internet, on a phone or a computer, without walking into a branch. The e- is a short way of saying the work runs , on the internet. Banks also call this online banking; in conversation the two names point at the same thing. It feels like ordinary modern life now, not specialist slang, though some people still use it only for “paying on the computer” and forget you can do almost the whole branch job this way. It is not the machine in the wall (that is an ATM / cash machine), and it is not a new kind of money — it is your ordinary bank account, reached through the internet.
e-banking 指的是透過網路辦理銀行業務，像是轉帳、繳費、查詢餘額，人在家裡用手機或電腦就能完成，不用走進分行。銀行也常叫它 online banking，在日常對話裡，兩個名字指的是同一件事。
字首「e-」表示這件工作是用電子方式、在網路上進行。這個字現在很平常，不是特別的行話。不過有些人只把它用來在電腦上付款，其實分行幾乎所有的事都能這樣辦。
要分清楚兩件事：它不是牆上那台提款機，提款機叫 ATM；它也不是一種新的錢，你的還是原本的銀行帳戶，只是改從網路上操作。
