1. 1

Dyfed was a county in southwest Wales, next to the Atlantic Ocean. In 1996 it was divided into Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire, and Pembrokeshire. The port of Milford Haven is there, and so are the universities of Aberystwyth and Lampeter. You will still see the name on old maps, in older addresses, and in the names of some organisations. Though actually, the name did not vanish overnight: Dyfed-Powys Police still uses it for that part of Wales, and some people from the area still say Dyfed. It is a place name, so we do not use it as an ordinary describing word.

    Dyfed(威爾斯西南部舊郡,1996年已拆成三郡;台灣多半直接用英文名)
