If something is dyed, someone has changed its colour with a dye — a special liquid or powder for cloth, hair, eggs, and the like. We say dyed hair, dyed fabric, dyed wool. This is just the past form of the verb dye. Though actually, English is here: dyed (given a new colour) and died (stopped living) sound exactly the same, and students mix them up all the time. The spelling is the only friend you have. Dyed is ordinary English; and clothes shops use it every day.
