On parenting websites and internet forums, DS is a typed short form of “darling son” — meaning your son. People almost never say “DS” out loud; they write it. If you have more than one boy, DS1 is the eldest son, DS2 the next, and so on — the number is birth order, not age. It is warm, informal internet talk, used so strangers can follow which child you mean without putting a full name on a public page. You will not see it in school essays or news stories.
