A drugget is a rough, heavy cloth, used especially as a cheap covering for a floor, or a piece of that cloth laid down like a simple carpet. It is not a fine rug. Think of something thick and plain that protects a floor, or that people once used because it was cheap and strong. The word is old and rather rare now; you will meet it in older books more than in shops. In everyday English people usually just say mat, rug, or carpet. Though actually, it was also used for coarse cloth in general, not only for floors.
