    A drone is a small flying machine that has no pilot inside — someone controls it from the ground using a remote control or a phone, often to take photos or videos from above. Before this modern meaning, 'drone' already meant a male bee that doesn't sting or make honey, and it also means a low, boring, buzzing sound that keeps going on and on — 'the drone of the engine' or 'he droned on about his trip,' meaning he talked in a boring way for a long time.
