    Drivel is something said or written that is silly, empty, or does not really mean anything. It is an impatient, slightly word. You throw it at a speech, a column, or a TV chat that you think is a waste of time: people say that is complete drivel. It is informal, and it stings, so you would not use it about a classmate's careful work. Though actually, the older meaning is still sitting there: drivel is also the wet stuff that runs from the mouth, like a baby. That picture is why the empty-talk meaning feels so sharp — you are calling the words . As a verb, to drivel on means to talk in that empty way; the noun is what you will meet most.

組成Does not split in modern English. It comes from an old English verb meaning to let saliva run from the mouth. People later used the same word for talk that is just as messy and empty.
