    Something drawn-out takes more time than usual, and more time than you wanted. A drawn-out meeting, a drawn-out goodbye, a drawn-out war: you feel it dragging. It is everyday English, complaining, not slang and not very formal. It comes from the verb draw out, meaning to make something last longer. Though actually, it is only about time feeling too long — never about drawing a picture.
