A draughtboard is the board you play draughts on. It has 64 squares, light and dark, in eight rows of eight — the same pattern as a chessboard. Draughts is the British name for the game Americans call checkers: two players jump each other’s round pieces. So a draughtboard is what an American would call a checkerboard. The spelling draught is British; you will not usually see draughtboard in American English. Though actually, the board itself is often just a chessboard used for a different game — same 64 squares, different pieces and rules. In everyday speech many people just say the draughts board, two words.
