1. 1

A downlighter is a small light set into a ceiling so the light shines down toward the floor. You almost never have just one: kitchens, bathrooms, and shops often have a row of them. British English likes the word downlighter; many people, and most American English, just say downlight, or recessed light. It is not a lamp hanging on a wire, and it is not a torch you carry. The bulb sits up in a hole in the ceiling, and the beam points down, though actually some are tilted a little to wash a wall. Builders and furniture shops use the word a lot; everyday chat may just say “the ceiling lights.”

    嵌燈(裝進天花板、往下照)。台灣裝修多說嵌燈;中國較常說筒燈。
