Domesticity is home life — the everyday life of a household: cooking, family, staying in, the small routines of a house. If someone “enjoys domesticity,” they like being at home with their family more than going out. It is a slightly word. Teenagers almost never say it; novels, essays, and a certain kind of newspaper writing do. Though actually, the feeling around it is not always the same. Some people say it with warmth, as if domesticity were safety and care. Others use it as if it were a small, boxed-in life, the opposite of adventure. The tidy meaning is simply “life at home with your family.” Just know it can sound or a little trapped, depending who is talking. It has nothing to do with taming animals, even though it looks like .
