Doggedly means doing something in a dogged way: you keep at it, step after step, and you will not stop just because it is hard or slow. It is an adverb, so it tells you how someone works, waits, or fights — she doggedly ; they doggedly refused to quit. The tone is mostly , though actually it can also sound a little weary, as if the person is stubborn past the point of sense. Same family as dogged: the determination of a dog that will not let go, plus -ly.
