Dissolution is when something that was joined together officially comes to an end and breaks apart. It is a formal word, mostly used in serious or legal writing. A marriage can end in dissolution (a more formal way to say divorce). A parliament or government body can be , which is called its dissolution - this often happens before an election. A company can also go through dissolution when it officially closes down and its parts are divided up. You will not hear this word in everyday chatting; it belongs in the news, in law, or in history books.
