If someone or something is disguised, they are dressed or changed so that people cannot recognize what or who they really are. A spy might be disguised as a waiter; a problem can also be 'disguised' — hidden inside something that looks harmless, like bad news disguised as good news. It comes from the verb 'to disguise', which means to hide your real identity or appearance.
