A disaffected person used to stand with a government, a leader, a party, or sometimes a company — and then the feeling died. They are no longer loyal, or they no longer believe this leader can help them. News writers love this word for voters, soldiers, workers, or young people who have turned away. Though actually, it is not the same as unaffected (not touched or not influenced), and not quite the same as , which can be about a meal or a job. Disaffected is about a broken bond with power.
