Describes selling or advertising that talks straight to the person who will use the product, instead of talking only to the shops, hospitals, or other middle steps. A medicine on TV that makes patients ask for a drug by name is classic direct-to-consumer advertising; so is a brand that ships from its own website to your door and never sits on a supermarket shelf. In business writing you will often see the letters DTC. It is a marketing and business term, a little formal, not a word for family chat. Though actually, the “direct” part can still hide a lot of warehouses and apps in between you and the factory — it means skipping the old shop relationship, not that nothing stands between you and the maker.
這個字指直接面對消費者的銷售或廣告，不透過店家、醫院等中間環節，而是直接對會使用產品的人說話。電視上的藥品廣告讓病人主動指名要某種藥，就是典型例子，常見的說法是「direct-to-consumer advertising」。另一種是品牌從自家網站直接寄到你家，從不上超市的貨架。
業界常用字母縮寫來稱呼它。這是行銷和商業用語，有點正式，不是家常聊天會用的字。要注意，這裡的直接是指跳過舊的店家關係，並不代表你和工廠之間什麼都沒有，中間仍然可能有倉儲和應用程式。
