Dilution is what happens when you make a liquid weaker by adding more water or another liquid to it, like the dilution of juice with water. The word is also used outside of liquids, for making anything weaker or less powerful by adding more of something else - like the dilution of a company's shares when it prints more of them, so each share becomes worth a little less, or the dilution of a strong idea when it gets mixed with weaker ones.
