    Dill is a herb. The plant has thin, green leaves and a fresh smell that makes some people think of or , though it is its own plant. Cooks chop the leaves into fish, potatoes, yogurt sauces, and salads; the seeds are used too. In a lot of English-speaking places the famous use is the dill pickle: a pickled with dill. In Taiwan you may meet it less in home kitchens than basil or , but the English word shows up on Western menus and on jars. This sense is only the plant — not a nickname, and not the city .
