Differentiation is the process of telling two or more things apart by noticing what makes them different. In business, "differentiation" is how a company makes its product stand out from competitors' products, and it's a word you'll see a lot in marketing. In biology, "cell differentiation" describes how a simple, general cell develops into a specific type of cell, like a skin cell or a nerve cell, as an organism grows. In math, "differentiation" is a specific technique in calculus for finding rates of change.
