Dettol is a brand of liquid antiseptic — a brown, sharp-smelling liquid people put on cuts and to kill and keep a wound from going bad. Families also dilute it to wipe surfaces. Though actually it is a product name, not the general English word for every germ-killing liquid; a hospital may use a different brand and still do the same job. In English you can say “some Dettol” the way you say “some Panadol”: the brand has become the household word. Do not drink it, and do not use it full-strength on large areas of skin without care — the bottle is for cleaning wounds and, diluted, for cleaning things.
