    Detrimentally means in a way that causes harm or damage — it tells you how something acts, not what kind of thing it is. The chemicals affected the river detrimentally. The delay impacted the team detrimentally. It is the adverb from detrimental, so it is at home in careful, written English. Though actually, in speech almost nobody reaches for it; they say badly, in a harmful way, or they recast the sentence with detrimental to. You are not wrong to use it, but it can sound stiff if the rest of the sentence is simple.
