1. 1

Detergent is the liquid or powder you use to wash clothes, dishes, and sometimes floors. English often uses one word for all of them; in a Taiwan shop you might pick 洗衣精 or 洗衣粉 for clothes and 洗碗精 for dishes. Soap and detergent are close, but not the same: detergent is the modern washing product, and it often works better than soap in hard water. Though actually, in chemistry detergent can also be an adjective — a detergent liquid is one that lifts grease — but in kitchens and laundry rooms, people mean the stuff in the bottle. It is an everyday word, not a fancy one.

    清潔劑;洗衣精/洗衣粉、洗碗精(台灣口語常直接講產品種類;中國大陸較常說「洗滌劑」)
