Denver is the capital of the US state of Colorado, and also its largest city. It sits on high, rather flat land just in front of the Rocky Mountains. People call it the Mile High City because a mark on the steps of the state capitol is one mile — about 1,609 metres — above the sea. Though actually the city is not a perfect table-top, so some streets sit a little lower or higher than that famous step. Denver is a centre for business, universities, and the arts in that part of America; it is not a beach city and it is not on the east coast. Write it with a capital D: it is a place name, not a common noun.
組成Named after James W. Denver. The surname Denver is thought to come from Old English Dene-fær ('crossing or passing of the Danes'), from Dene + fær; or alternatively from den-ōfer ('valley-bank'), from denu + ofer.
